醉'驾'自行车被罚第一案
A man in Zhejiang was fined RMB50 for drunken riding a bicycle, Zhejiang Daily reported. The man, surnamed Wang, was reportedly riding the wrong way and collided with a tricycle from the opposite way. A subsequent blood alcohol test showed his blood alcohol level was above the limit. The case becomes the first in the province in which someone drunken operating a non-motor vehicle is punished since an amended Criminal Law imposed harsher punishments on drunken drivers on May 1.

Some construction workers were buried after a 6-story building under construction collapsed Thursday in Wuhan, Beijing News reported. The accident happened around 6 pm on Changfeng Street, said the authorities. Eight people had been rescued from the rubble and later one of them died after being admitted to hospital as of 22:40 pm Thursday.

Guizhou Satellite TV will join the iPhone to start a series of brand cooperation, renaming itself "Apple TV", starting June 6, a famous critic nicknamed "Choreographer" announced in his blog. He said the TV station is preparing the new logo featuring an apple. The plan announced by Crispin Blunt, the prisons minister, would spare victims the trauma of a court case and save millions of pounds in police and prosecution costs. However, it is likely to prove controversial because the minister is risking allowing serious criminals to escape serious punishment.

Playboy launched a Web-based subscription service Thursday called i.Playboy.com that allows viewers to see every single page of every magazine in the magazine's history, AP reported. "They no longer have to store 57 years — 682 issues — of Playboy under their mattress," said Jimmy Jellinek, Playboy's chief content officer. Jellinek is optimistic people will pony up the $8 per month or $60 per year for a service that's "meant to appeal to that sense of collective nostalgia and affinity." He calls the website "the world's sexiest time machine".

More than 550 US health professionals and organizations signed a letter Wednesday to push McDonald's to stop marketing junk food to kids and retire Ronald McDonald, the Wall Street Journal reported. The campaign includes an effort to get McDonald's to produce a report assessing its "health footprint". The letter from the health providers urges McDonald's to cease marketing food high in salt, fat, sugar and calories to kids while using Ronald McDonald and Happy Meal toys.

There is a new book called The Longevity Project written by Howard S. Freidman and Leslie R. Martin, professors of psychology at the University of California. They looked for links between personality and age of death using a lifelong study of people who first started when they were school children. The study included 1,500 bright individuals. It indicates that paradoxically people with rosy personalities died younger. "It was the most prudent and persistent individuals who stayed healthiest and lived the longest," Martin said in a statement.

A US woman was taken off a train by police and charged with disorderly conduct after she spoke too loudly on her mobile phone for 16 hours, US media reported.
