Indian companies are now outsourcing their work to the US where a struggling economy has caused high unemployment and lower wages, the Washington Post reported. Residents desperate for work in the US, particularly African Americans, are paid between $12 and $14 an hour to be stationed in tiny cubicles for long shifts of telesales work. Once the employees are established, many are offered the chance to be flown to India. Experts said the phenomenon could become more widespread in the coming years.

Chinese prosecutors have launched investigations on 57 government staff members involved in food safety cases this year, the Supreme People's Procuratorate said Monday, the Beijing Times reported. Among the suspects, 18 people allegedly took bribes in 17 cases while the other 39 people were investigated for dereliction of duty in 20 cases, said Qiu Xueqiang, deputy procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, at a press conference. Procuratorates nationwide have approved the arrest of 220 people for producing and selling substandard and poisonous food from September last year to April this year, he added. They have also initiated public prosecution against 113 persons in 65 cases during the period.

法航空难披露惊人细节
The captain of Air France flight 447 which plunged into the Atlantic 2 years ago, killing everyone on board, was not at the controls when the plane ran into trouble. German weekly news magazine Der Spiegel quoted an expert who said Captain Marc Dubois, 58, could be heard on the black box recordings rushing into the cockpit when the plane hit bad weather. "He gave both co-pilots instructions on how to save the plane," the expert said. The data also showed ice crystals caused by the bad weather had clogged up the pitot tube, an instrument used to measure airspeed, the expert told Der Spiegel. He added after the pitot tube malfunctioned, the plane rose steeply which could have caused the engine to stall and the airplane to crash.

Sissy, a blind horse, is guided by a seeing-eye entourage of 5 goats and 5 sheep at an animal shelter in Montana near Yellowstone National Park, Reuters reported. The seeing-eye sheep and guard goats are never far from the white mare. They round Sissy up at feeding time and then move aside to make sure she gets to the hay. They show her where the water is and stand between her and the fence to let her know the fence is there. "There's a magic involved in sheep, goats and a horse becoming best friends," said Michelle Feldstein, owner of the shelter. "When you watch them, you have to wonder why can't people do that?"
