A new survey found that as many as 72% of Chinese employees want to change their career paths in the next 5 years, xinhuanet.com reported. The report, jointly conducted by multinational staffing company Kelly Services and Chinese recruiting firm Zhaopin, showed that the proportion was far ahead of just 48% in the US with the global average level at 57%. Those who voted yes said they want to start a whole new career by trying a new industry, learning new skills or transferring into another company. New industries are creating job opportunities, fueled by China's fast developing economy, which makes Chinese young professionals more willing to move on than ever before, experts say.

Nine Chinese companies have made it into Fortune magazine's global list of 100 Fastest-Growing Companies released Tuesday. Baidu and Home Inns are the 2 Chinese companies entering the Top10, being ranked 4 and 9 respectively. US pharmacy benefit management company SXC Health Solutions takes the top spot. Companies are judged by revenue growth rate, earnings-per-share growth rate, and annualized total return. The overall rank is based on the sum of those 3 ranks over a 3-year period.

"Science Cop" Fang Zhouzi quoted insiders on his micro blog Tuesday as saying that the former Principal of China Agricultural University (CAU) had academic misconducts, china.com.cn reported. The 6 insiders, including 4 CAU professors with respected names, say that Shi Yuanchun, the former CAU head, had stolen academic achievements from others and fiddled science rewards at national, provincial and ministerial level. Shi has not responded to the accusation yet.

The Antarctic is being invaded by a species that threatens to destroy its 14m-year-old eco-system. The BBC reported over 1m King crabs have been found in the Palmer Deep, a basin cut in the continental shelf, probably as a result of warming in the region. The crabs are known to be voracious crushers of sea floor animals. Scientists believe they will probably change the ecosystem profoundly if and when they spread further.
