The 90th birthday of the Communist Party of China is drawing near. Looking back at the Party's magnificent history, a conclusion can be drawn that the Party deserves the right to lead in China given its remarkable achievements in leading the Chinese people of all nationalities to gain national independence, to enhance the comprehensive strength of the country, to promote the common prosperity of the people, and to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

The Party's leading position is based on scientific theories. After the Opium War, countless patriots took advantage of various political theories, such as reformism, liberalism, social Darwinism, populism and syndicalism to save the nation, but all failed because these theories violated the principles of science and did not fit China's specific conditions.

Sun Yat-sen developed the Three Principles of the People and led the revolution that toppled the Qing Dynasty but failed to carry through the following democratic revolution because of historical limitations.

Marxism is the most advanced and scientific ideology in human history and is the guiding ideology of the Communist Party of China. The Party integrated the basic principles of Marxism with China's specific conditions and made two significant achievements in the localization of Marxism. The first achievement was Maoism, and the second achievement was socialism with Chinese characteristics, including the Deng Xiaoping Theory, the important thought of the Three Represents and the scientific outlook on development.

The two achievements have served as a solid theoretical basis for the national independence and prosperity of China. It has been clearly proven in the past 90 years that the Party, which adheres to the guidance of Marxism and constantly promotes the localization of the ideology, has the ability to lead the revolution and reforms in China.

This is an overpowering choice of history and the Chinese people. The Communist Party of China's status as the core of the leadership has been a serious choice made by the Chinese people based on long-term "historical comparisons" with various types of political forces. The history and the people once gave full play to various classes and political forces, but they mostly became short-lived passers-by. Only the CPC equipped with Marxism united with and leading the Chinese people of all ethnic groups to topple the "three big mountains of imperialism, feudalism and bureaucrat-capitalism" after the Northern Expedition, the Land Revolution, the Anti-Japanese War and the War of Liberation, could have achieved national independence and the liberation of the people and passed the "tough test" of history and the people before becoming a ruling party.

Under the leadership of the Party since the founding of New China, particularly the reform and opening-up, the Chinese people of all ethnic groups have made great efforts to develop China into the world's second largest economy, enhanced their overall living standard to a moderately well-off level and created a prosperous situation in all aspects of socialist cause such as politics, culture and society. Thanks to this series of historical changes and remarkable achievements, the people sincerely embrace and support the leadership of the Communist Party of China.

This is the inevitable requirement for the Communist Party of China to maintain and develop its vanguard nature. The primary reason of the Party being able to become the core strength of leading China's revolution, construction and reform; assume the great historical trust of the Chinese people and the Chinese nation and remain invincible in the intensely changing international and domestic environment, is that the Party represents the requirements of the development of China's advanced productive forces, the orientation of China's advanced culture and the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of the Chinese people and always attaches great importance to and constantly keeps and develops its vanguard nature as a Marxist political party.

Based on its self-improvement ability of advancing with the times and maintaining vanguard nature, the Communist Party of China continues to promote the theoretical and practical innovation, learn from both positive and negative experiences, adapt to the development and changes in the world's situation, national conditions and the Party's situation and deal with the test of governance, the test of the reform and opening up, the test of the market economy and the test of the external environment to ensure that the Party is always in the forefront of the times and is the strong core strength of China's revolution, construction and reform.
