expect、anticipate、look forward to

这组词都有“期望”、“盼望”的意思。
expect 指有信心、有把握地等待某事的发生，对期待的事情通常有一定的根据。 名词是expectation。
1) We will expect you to the dinner unless we get the word to the contrary.
（我们将期待你来吃饭了，除非得到话说你不来了。）
2) Civilized nations must prohibit the use of nuclear weapons if we expect our society to live.
（如果我们期望我们的社会能生存下去，文明的国家就必须禁止使用核武器。）
3) The sales have a significant increase this month, which exceeds our expectation.

anticipate 是正式用词，指以高兴、焦虑、或恐惧的心情期待某事的发生。有时可以与expect换用，但需注意动词作宾语时，expect接动词不定 式，anticipate接动名词。 名词是anticipation。
