调查显示：英国学生最讨厌数学老师

　　Maths teachers in England are among the most poorly trained in thedeveloped world, a report revealed yesterday. And it found that theaverage maths specialists in our secondary schools are inferiormathematicians to those teaching primary pupils in Japan. The researchsaw England languishing second from the bottom of an internationalleague table which included China, Russia and Hungary. Only the CzechRepublic was ranked lower。

　　什么样的老师最讨人喜欢？教什么科目的老师最受到大家的欢迎？估计这两个问题一抛出，答案是丰富多彩的，因为“萝卜白菜各有所爱”嘛！可是，倘若提出“什么样的老师最不讨人喜欢”这个问题呢？可能答案也会是丰富多菜的，但是有趣的是，经过调查，这个问题竟然有“唯一”的答案。据悉，有一份研究报告指出，在英国，数学老师的普遍素质较低，最不受到大家的欢迎。此外，研究员还拿英国和日本的数学老师做比较，在英国承担中等教育的老师还不如在日本从事初等教育的数学老师。在国际联赛积分榜上(包括中国俄罗斯以及乌拉圭等国家)，英国排倒数第二，仅仅领先捷克国家。

　　Tony McAleavy, of the Plymouth centre, said: 'Teaching needs tobecome a respected profession in this country, on a par with the law andmedicine, and then we will attract more able people.' Professor CeliaHoyles, of the Institute of Education, said there was a need to 'findways to improve primary maths teachers' competence and confidence inmaths'. An Education Department spokesman said the Government wanted toattract better quality maths graduates by offering a fast-track routeand raising the bar for entry into training to a 2:2 degree to receivefunding。
