Seventeen political advisors on Wednesday put forward their proposals on "restructuring China's economy and promoting stable and rapid economic development."

The advisors made speeches at a meeting of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body.

CPPCC National Committee Chairman Jia Qinglin attended the meeting.

CPPCC National Committee member Zhang Zhigang proposed reducing tax burdens for low-income people and lowering highway tolls.

Chen Yongqi, a standing committee member, proposed boosting trade cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong and taking advantage of Hong Kong's position as an international financial center to serve in the internationalization of China's currency, the yuan.

Standing committee member Qin Dahe proposed encouraging small- and medium-sized companies to participate in innovation of energy conservation technology, developing clean energy and setting a binding target for China's energy consumption during the 2011-2015 period.
