World youth table tennis qualifier starts in Peru

A total of 15 countries on Friday gathered in Peru's capital of Lima for the world youth table tennis qualifier, the Peruvian Table Tennis Sports Federation said.
About 200 players from 14 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean as well as the European country Lithuania are seeking one of the two spots that will qualify them for participation in the World Table Tennis Youth Championships in Bahrain in November.
The players, who are between 15 and 18 years old and represent both the male and female competition, will play between June 20-30 in the 17th Latin American Youth Championship and in the Junior & Cadet Open, both of which will be held at Lima's Coliseo University.
Competitions will be hold both in individual categories as well as for doubles, mixed doubles and national teams.
Countries participating in the competition include Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, The Dominican Republic, Lithuania and host Peru.
