Cote d'Ivoire's President Alassane Ouattara has promised to reappoint Guillaume Soro to the position of the country's prime minister.

During an interview he accorded to a French television station, France 24, Ouattara said on Sunday that Soro had done an "excellent job" as the head of government in the last few months.

"The situation is still fragile. We hope that he will continue and he has accepted to continue. It's him who will form the next government," the Cote d'Ivoire's president explained.

It will be recalled that during the campaigns for the Nov. 28 presidential elections, Ouattara who was seeking the support of Henri Konan Bedie of the Democratic Party of Cote d'Ivoire (PDCI) had promised him the position of the prime minister if he (Ouattara) was elected.

However, during the stand-off that ensued between Ouattara and Laurent Gbagbo, Ouattara preferred to have Soro as the head of government and also as the defense minister.

Soro who is the leader of the New Forces (ex-armed rebels) remobilized his troops with a view of dislodging Gbagbo from power in favor of Ouattara.

The offensive of Soro's soldiers led to the April 11 arrest of Gbagbo and thereby leaving the country under the leadership of Ouattara.

"I will honor my promise towards PDCI when the time comes. But this is not the appropriate moment," Ouattara said. He indicated that he would soon form a government of national unity.

Cote d'Ivoire begun a new era following Saturday's official swearing in of President Ouattara as the country's fifth president.

The ceremony was held in Yamoussoukro (Cote d'Ivoire's political capital), in the presence of about 20 heads of state and government as well as other senior personalities, among them French President Nicolas Sarkozy and UN Secretary General Ban Ki moon.
