Bahrain's main Shi'ite opposition group on Monday announced that four of its members were sacked from their posts as municipal councillors in the Central Municipal Council.
Al Wefaq National Islamic Society said in a statement that its members were sacked for "taking part in anti-government protests and spreading wrong information to international community."
The Bahraini government ordered this month all ministries to form investigation committees and take actions against staff who took part in anti-government protests or were absent without proper reasons.
The General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions said they registered over 900 workers in private and public sector, who were sacked since the start of the month.
