第一次听到《Flowers in December》的时候，就相信再也无法逃脱Hope Sandoval的声音，木吉他的声音干净的有些阴冷，口琴带来的些许亮色就如一些惨淡的光。有评价说“Hope的嗓音在高处带出呼吸的声音，仿佛溺毙之人死前的呼唤，然而这种音效所带出的性感又如忘川里的轻舟般神秘动人。”

乐队简介：迷幻音乐在九十年代成为尚存后朋克的中坚力量，Mazzy Star便是其最杰出的代表之一。这并不意味着Jefferson Airplane、the Grateful Dead这些乐队的追随者可以在Mazzy Star身上继续寻找到他们偶像的踪迹，事实上，Mazzy Star本身已经开创了自己的音乐流派。Mazzy Star更加喜欢阴柔凄美的迷幻味道，从他们的音乐中我们更容易发现像the Doors、the Velvet Underground的遗风。他们邋遢懒散的吉他、悲痛哀怨的民谣曲风几乎弥漫了这个九十年代，几乎成为此类音乐的一种标准。
Mazzy Star事实上是吉他手David Roback、主唱Hope Sandoval的私人乐队。
不知道怎么去形容Mazzy Star，颓废，阴柔，凄美，神秘，性感…… 但确信我是摆脱不了Hope Sandoval（霍普.桑多瓦尔）的声音，甚至总是想象深夜一个女子在身边轻轻地唱，亦幻亦真，凄美阴柔，有时庸懒而性感，我注视着她，直到双眼凄迷，而黑暗中只有她在轻轻的唱，眼神却从来没有注视过你，因为那是她的世界。当然还会有另一个名字Sophie Zelmani（苏菲.珊曼妮），但相比而言，Sophie Zelmani的声音要更清纯甜美一些，音乐显得干净，而Hope Sandoval更接近迷幻，总之一个淡淡地忧伤，一个黑暗中的凄美，同样是两个让我怜爱的声音。
Hope Sandoval或许在述说人性格中的一面，常常会听到失神，黑夜本身是一种毒，而Mazzy Star是黑夜里下的毒……
