专家称左撇子个人能力强 团队意识差

　　They like to think that their superior brainpower means that others are left behind. But left-handed people may not be right。

　　左撇子们一般喜欢认为他们优良的智力意味着许多人被他们甩在了后面。但是左撇子可能不一定是正确的。

　　A professor reckons he has dispelled the myth that ‘lefties’ aremore likely to be gifted. In fact, he says left-handers’ brainpower isdepleted to the same extent as someone born prematurely。

　　一个教授认为他已经将关于左撇子更有可能天赋异禀的神话给推翻了。事实上，他强调左撇子和那些早产的人--他们的智力的减少程度是一样的。

　　The finding is unlikely to find favour with the 10 per cent of thepopulation who favour their left hand, including David Cameron, BarackObama, Angelina Jolie, Paul McCartney and Prince William。

　　Professor Mike Nicholls, from Adelaide’s Flinders University – who is left-handed – studied 5,000 five-year-olds。

　　来自阿德莱德的弗林德斯大学的左撇子教授Mike Nicholls调查了5000个5岁的孩子，针对他们使用左右手的情况做了调查。

　　He examined their performances at school and listened to whatteachers said about them and came to the conclusion that ‘left-handerstend to do worse as a group than right-handers’。

　　Professor Nicholls said: ‘It’s untrue to say that being left-handedis a result of something going awry at birth, as has been popularlybelieved.’

　　He added that the reduced cognitive ability of ‘lefties’ was smallbut similar to the ‘negative outcomes’ of being born prematurely。

　　'It's a small, but nevertheless significant, (negative) result thatwe're observing.' According to international left-handed groups, theyexcel particularly in tennis, baseball, swimming and fencing。
