U.S. Homeland Security Secretary pays tribute to Mumbai attacks victims

The U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano Tuesday arrived here and paid tribute to those killed in the terror attacks in the financial capital of India in November 2008.

Napolitano laid a wreath at a police memorial in south Mumbai and then she observed silence for a brief period at the memorial, built in memory of 16 cops who were killed during the attacks.

During her stay in Mumbai, Napolitano will also meet government officials, local law enforcements, civil society organizations and businessmen, a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy in the Indian capital said.

She will jointly launch with Indian Home Minister P. Chidambaram the U.S.-India homeland security dialogue aimed at increasing communication and information sharing between the two countries on the fight against terrorism and security issues.
