Editor's Note: Three years after the devastating earthquake struck Wenchuan, southwest China's Sichuan Province, the areas, phoenix-like, with a concerted help from the whole nation, have risen from the rubble, thus fostering the valuable Wenchuan Spirit.


To remember, to forget,  the best way for people there is to cheer up, to be strong, to  fight on and to look forward to a brighter future!

Three years have passed since the Wenchuan earthquake killed more than 70,000 people. Today, ninety-five percent of reconstruction projects have been completed, with the remainder set to be finished by the end of September


By the end of April, 885.15 billion yuan ($136 billion), or 92.37 percent of the overall reconstruction budget, had been spent, according to official figures from the NDRC. In Sichuan alone, nearly 3,000 schools, 1,000 hospitals and more than 5 million homes have been built or renovated, according to Wei Hong, executive vice-governor of Sichuan province.

The Sichuan provincial government says more than 600 children were left orphaned by the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake. They might be considered the most vulnerable of all the survivors.


Most of them have been cared for by government-funded welfare associations and orphanages, and a few are living with relatives.
