The world's largest inland river cruise ship departed from the Port of Chongqing on the Yangtze River on April 7

Nicknamed "President's Flagship," the 10,000-ton five-star cruise ship involves investments of 180 million yuan named and was built by the Wuhan Yangtze Cruise Company to serve the Three Gorges national tourist route.

The six-floor "President's Flagship" has 12,000 tons of displacement. It is 135.2 meters long and 19.6 meters wide and can carry 374 passengers. The size of the ship has reached the maximum capacity of the Three Gorges channel. It is the world's largest and most advanced inland river cruise ship, and is also a first five-star cruise ship built after the National Tourism Administration released the "Inland River Cruise Ship Classification and Assessment Standards" in 2010.

The entire cruise ship is just like a luxurious palace. It possesses various facilities, such as a banquet hall, conference center, gymnasium, sauna room, shopping mall, business center and presidential suites, which are comparable to five-star hotels. The goal is to fully meet the demand of high-end tourists in terms of food, lodging, transportation, travel, entertainment and shopping.

After the Three Gorges Dam was completed, the navigability of the Three Gorges portion of the river has been greatly enhanced, making it possible for even 10,000-ton-class luxury cruise ships to travel along. Tong Wei, president of China International Travel Service, said that the "President's Flagship" and other luxury cruise ships can give passengers high-quality services and impressive leisure experiences.

Qin Cao, assistant to the general manager of the Wuhan Yangtze Cruise Company, said that previously, tourists mainly enjoyed the scenery of the Three Gorges, but as the river has become navigable for 10,000-ton-class luxury cruise ships, tourists can also enjoy the high-quality leisure services on ships while enjoying the natural scenery.

The company plans to make the "President's Flagship" the most popular cruise ship for vacations at the Three Gorges. Although the price for a standard cabin is as high as 3,500 yuan, foreign tourists still find it very attractive. The ship has been booked up for the first half of 2011 by tourists from North America, Russia and Europe.
