From the time that a crackdown on organized crime was launched in Chongqing to the end of 2010, 228 criminal gangs have been sentenced, according to the "Peace Chongqing" construction and comprehensive management of social security briefings meeting held recently.

It is learned that, by regulation, there has been a reduction in the number of crime cases in the city's key areas that were slated for improvement. According to statistics, criminal cases in the listed 102 key municipal areas decreased by nearly 24 percent; the public satisfaction in the key areas reached more than 90 percent. The city's eight categories of major criminal cases have gone down more than 20 percent, and the city's street crime is down 40 percent.

This year, Chongqing will crack down on various criminal activities to establish a long-term mechanism for anti-crime, deepen the reform of community policing and establish a comprehensive prevention and control system.
