A strong measure that asks the party members and cadres serve the people in grassroots positions is being implemented in Chongqing.

Thousands of cadres are going into the grassroots and into the villages, where they will eat, live and labor together with the farmers. Some 11,000 village party organizations are making systems, such as regular receiving visitors, setting deadlines to respond to people's feedback, and striving to solve people's hardships at the source.

In order to let the party members dapt to mass work's new characteristics and new requirements under the new situation, Chongqing is asking the cadres to go to the grassroots for one week a year. Within two years, 250,000 cadres have gone down to the farmland. They not only take tools to work but also intellectual power to help farmers deal with travel, water, employment and other problems.

Chen Cungen, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee said we must focus on consolidating the work of grassroots party organizations that make the most frequent and direct contact with people, listen to voice of the people and solve the problems of the people.
