第十一章 元音字组在非重读音节中的读音

字群概念的引入 字群是指几个字组在一起（有元字组也有辅字组）共同发某几个音素。（如：-tion -sion -sten -stle -ought) 。字群是比字组更大的拼读单位，字组具有不可分割性，而字群则不然，在划分音节时可以将字群划分到不同的音节里去。例如：

listen → lis-ten christen → chris-ten castle → cas-tle jostle → jos-tle whistle → whis-tle rustle → rus-tle

第十二章 元字组在复合词中的读音

　　复合词中的第二部分不标注重音符号，但其中的元音字母或元音字组仍按重读音节拼读规则拼读。
例如：
　　everyday[e]
　　handbag[æ]
　　blackboard[:] 8-01 　　有些词随着语言的发展，前后两部分已失去其单独存在时的意义，融合成为一个词。其中的非重读部分要按非重读音节的读音规则发音。
例如：
　　sun 太阳 + day[e] 日子 → Sunday[i] 星期天
　　holy 神圣 + day[e] 日子 → holiday[i] 假日
　　break 中断 + fast[:] 斋戒 → breakfast[] 早餐
　　cup 茶杯 + board[:] 木板 → cupboard[] 碗柜
　　main 主要部分 + land[æ] 陆地 → mainland[] 大陆

复合词的读音遵循 8-01 规则还是遵循 8-02 规则，有时要取决于说话人的对该词的理解。例如 birthday 一词，有的人会读成 [b:de] ，而有的人读 [b:d] 。

还有的复合词重音位置后移，如：
weekend [wi:kend]
midday [mde]
但这仅仅是字典上的注音而已，实际语言中会有所变化。

复合词的演变模式：
farm house → farm-house → farmhouse → farmhouse[f:mhs]
holy day → holy-day → holyday[hulide] → holyday[hlide] → holyday[hld] → holyday[hld]（未经考证，仅供参考）
