教你如何在奥巴马演讲的时候不昏昏欲睡

　　对于奥巴马这种擅长忽悠的演讲天才型政客，我一开始就没有看好过。现在越来越多的批评涌现出来，有一些非常好玩，今天看见一篇：

　　How to Stay Awake During Obama Speeches: Play Bullshit Bingo

　　很喜欢这些小聪明，非常subtle，值得仔细品味。刚好有闲就大概翻译了一下。

　　1. 在下一回巴拉克·奥巴马的电视演讲之前，给你自己准备一个画好的“Bullshit Bingo”游戏板。我觉得一个方形分成5行5列的大小比较合适，这样你就有了25个空格。

　　2. 在每个空格中写一个如下的词汇或者短语：(译注：下面翻译未必精准，大概看一下就是了，都是奥巴马爱用的漂亮词)

　　Restored our reputation —— 恢复我们(美国)的声望

　　Strategic fit —— 战略适宜

　　Let me be clear —— 让我明确这一点

　　Make no mistake —— 绝不犯错

　　Back from the brink —— 从……的边缘回到……

　　Signs of recovery —— 经济复苏的迹象

　　Out of the loop —— (公众、或官员不能)不知情

　　Benchmark —— 比较指标

　　Job creation —— 创造工作机会

　　Fiscal restraint —— 财政限制

　　Win-win —— 双赢

　　Affordable health care —— 支付得起的医疗保险

　　Previous Administration —— 之前的政府(指小布什)

　　At the end of the day —— 最终(我们能够达成……)

　　Empower (or empowerment) —— 赋予……的权利；使……有能力实现……

　　Touch base —— 和……接触(以达成共识)

　　Mindset —— 思维定式

　　Bipartisan —— 不分党派的

　　Trust —— 信任

　　Inherited as in “I inherited this mess” —— 继承下来的，如“从前一届政府继承下来的问题和混乱”

　　Relief for working families —— 为一般工薪家庭解除……

　　Unprecedented —— 前所未见的

　　Accountable (or held to account) —— 负有责任的(或为……负责)

　　Free market —— 自由市场

　　Reform —— 改革

　　你可以用以下的词汇代替，但是每个空格只填一个：

　　Change (as in “change you can believe in”) —— 改变(比如“你能相信的改变”)(译注，这是奥巴马的最经典台词了，如同很多人批评的那样，这个change是永远没有宾语的。change you canbelieve in这个用法更是近于宗教了)

　　Universal health care —— 全面的医疗保险

　　Brought the economy back from the brink —— 把经济从崩溃的边缘拉回来

　　3. 当你听到如上的一个词汇或者短语的时候，就打勾作一个记号

　　4. 每当你把勾出的五个单词能连成一条线的时候，你就拍案而起，大叫一声“BULLSHIT!”

　　以下是玩过这个“Bullshit Bingo”游戏的人的一些体会：

　　“I had been listening to the speech for only five minutes when I won。” - Jack W., Boston

　　“My attention span during speeches has improved dramatically。” – David D., Florida

　　“What a gas! Speeches will never be the same for me after my first win。” - Bill R., New York City

　　“The atmosphere was tense in the last speech as 14 of us waited for the fifth box。” – Ben G., Denver

　　“The speaker was stunned as eight of us screamed ‘BULLSHIT!’ for the third time in two hours。” – Harry A. Chantilly
