今天继续学习含有drink和beer的习语！ 1.small beer

small beer可不是“小啤酒”哦，而是指“无足轻重的东西，没什么价值的东西”，相当于small potato。
例：-How much do you earn every month?你的月薪是多少？
-3,000 yuan. That’s small beer compared with my sister’s salary.三千元。和我姐姐的工资比起来，那点钱少得可怜。

除了small potato，nobody也可以表示“小人物”，big potato则是“大人物”。
2.cry in one’s beer

cry in one’s beer字面意思为“在啤酒里哭泣”。大家在电影、电视或生活中多半见过这样的情景：一个人心情不好时常独自去酒吧解闷，一进门就对服务员说“给我来瓶啤酒”，结果TA越喝越愁，甚至哭了起来。cry in one’s beer表示“自我怜悯”。
例：-What should I do?我应该怎么办？
-You should cheer up, instead of sitting around in a bar all day crying in your beer.你应该振作起来，而不是成天在酒吧里借酒浇愁。
3.drink sb. under the table

有的人喝得醉醺醺的时候，连椅子都坐不稳，一个劲儿地往桌子底下钻。drink sb. under the table指“(拼酒量时)喝倒某人”。
例：-Julie’s uncle is a heavy drinker.朱莉的叔叔是个大酒鬼。
-Exactly! He drank many people under the table at his birthday party.一点儿没错！他在自己的生日派对上把很多人都给喝倒了。
4.not all beer and skittles

skittles指“九柱戏”，是现代保龄球运动的前身。beer和skittles代表吃喝玩乐，所以not all beer and skittles指“并非只是娱乐，并非轻松快乐”。
例：-Do you want to be an actress as you grow up?你长大之后想当演员吗？
-Nope! Being an actress is not all beer and skittles.不想当！当演员并不轻松自在。
5.be the worse for drink

be the worse for drink指“喝醉”。
例：He was the worse for drink when his wife came back.当他妻子回来时，他已经喝得醉醺醺的了。
6.stand sb. a drink

stand sb. a drink指“请某人喝酒”，尤其是在被请之人没有足够的钱时。
例：-Bad luck! I’ve left my wallet at home.真糟糕！我把钱包忘家里了。
-It doesn’t matter. Let me stand you a drink.没关系。我请你喝一杯。
