　　The hypocritical stand of the US from human rights is encouraging other countries like China to do the same. The pick-and-choose policy by the US whom to condemn and whom to bless is being copied. US legalizes the killing of the Shiites in Bahrain and in Saudi Arabia but condemn Syria and Libya on this issue. Besides, in Saudi Arabia and in Bahrain the killing is a sectarian cleansing forbidden by international law but the US is oblivious. This damaging stand by the US is ruining the chance for an international unified position on human rights.

　　Arguing that we should give places like Xinjiang and Tibet independence is like considering the fragmentation of the U.S. into its constituent parts and considering each one a sovereign nation. Each state has its own history, its own culture, and its own unique ethnic groups, but ultimately, what links them together is a shared past under one government. It isn't territory forcibly taken in recent years - both of these areas have been historically under Chinese control for hundreds of years. If Xinjiang wants to secede, a strong case should be made for California to follow suit, which has even more reason to do so, since the federal government hinders our progress at times. I will concede, however, that our current state government needs a massive overhaul if it wants to be viable in the next fifty or so years. www.junshijia.com 军情第一站
