An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale jolted near the east coast of Honshu, Japan at 13:29 local time (0429 GMT), the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 47 km, was initially determined to be at 39.3124 degrees north latitude and 142.0179 degrees east longitude.
