A senior Chinese official has called for public education to focus on patriotism to encourage more people to become engaged in the country's socialistic construction ahead of the 90th founding anniversary of Communist Party of China (CPC).

Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remark during his four-day visit ending Tuesday to northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

Li visited a village where Hui nationality migrants had been resettled. He encouraged the residents to shake off poverty with the help of the local government.

The official also asked the local government to actively introduce investors to develop water-efficient agriculture and eco-friendly industries in Ningxia's arid environment.
