India's military satellite plan aims to counteract China?

India plans to loft a series of dedicated satellites for defense purposes in the coming years, boosting the country’s capability to scan multiple activities on and across its borders.

“We are looking at launching one or two satellites every year to fulfill the requirements of all three military formations,” says V.K. Saraswat, chief of India’s Defense Research and Development Organization.

Although the Indian press has been reporting on the nation’s milsat plans, this is probably the first time that an official confirmation with details has been given. These satellites will have payloads for surveillance, imaging, navigation and communication.

“Once these satellites are operational, we will be able to see troop movements along the borders,” Saraswat says. “ The key is high-resolution images with precision.

“The army, the navy and the air force have varied requirements, and it won’t be appropriate to give the numbers,” he adds. “Data and commands can be sent through these satellites to cruise missiles.”

The Indian Space Research Organization will indigenously develop and launch these satellites. A road map has been prepared by a council for space-based surveillance. The requirement of the armed forces has been handed over to the Space Commission, based on this report.

According to a news report in The Times Of India, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has fixed the ‘‘launch window’’ of the naval communication and surveillance satellite between December 2010 and March 2011.

"ISRO has assured us the naval satellite, with an around 1,000-nautical mile footprint over Indian Ocean, will be launched as slated. The project cost is Rs 950 crore. IAF and Army satellites will also follow in a couple of years,’’ the paper quoted a senior MoD official as saying, on Wednesday.

India Navy is confident that the dedicated military satellite will surely help the force in improving its C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) capabilities.

The dedicated satellite will help Navy network all its warships, submarines and aircraft among themselves as well as with operational centres ashore through high-speed data-links.

"Maritime threats can then be detected and shared in real-time to ensure swift reaction,'' added the official.(Brahmand)

i couldnt agree more radhika, they love to make noise about how india is a "hegemony" or being provocative with its arms spending, when china spends way more on its military, poses  way more of a threat to india than india does to china, China is also far more advanced in its military space program than india is, I think china is just scared of indias growing economic, cultural, military clout because india is the only other country in asia to challenge its dominance.Being a bigger countries india and china, both should be responsible as well, instead of spending billions of dollars on security and military products, both india and china should improvise on diplomatic and strategic relations, so that there should be no place for doubt, as well as cultural harmony between the countries can be improvised.India ,Japan and america together with their allies plan to counteract china.NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT.But their plans are to fail as china can never be contained and its rise as the MILITARY and ECONOMIC  superpower will take place and its only a matter of time.Deny india the water of Brahmaputra they will fall like cards and will forget about containing or counteracting china EVEN IN THEIR DREAM.

The Conquest of India

Since india wishes to play a proxy for the U.S., isn't it about time for another invasion and conquest of India?  Like the Mongols conquest from the 1500s to 1800s, followed by the British?  This Johnny-come-lately is better off managed by more civilize countries.  All u need a a good Administrator, and Japanese WW II technique of executing 100 to put fear into 1000. For India, maybe 1 million to make 1 billion compliant and acquiescient.  Ha ha ha!

Then we could pay Indians to make cheap goods that Chinese don't want to do any moreHahaha..Dream son..Dream big..India is not that of  stone age or british india..it is a wakening huge military machine..
isnt your real name a paki one that is praying before uncle sam to get you away from drones or from  taliban you riped to accomplish your rude wishes..
