"Those two aircraft stopped in Italy, where they picked up humanitarian assistance from the USAID ... warehouse," Lapan said, adding the planes will return to Tunisia Saturday to transport Egyptians trapped near the Tunisia-Libya border back home.
The flights are part of U.S. Africa Command-led Operation Odyssey Dawn, which is providing humanitarian assistance to people fleeing Libya. President Barack Obama announced Thursday he has authorized the use of military aircraft to help Egyptians who have fled to the border between Libya and Tunisia to get back home.
