At least 12 army personnel were killed in a terrorist attack that broke out late Sunday night at a navy air base in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi, local English TV channel Express reported Monday.

The report quoted the Deputy Inspector General Police of Karachi as saying that the death toll on the part of the armed forces in the attack has reached to 12. Besides, two aircraft including one U.S.-made P-3C Orion reconnaissance plane were also damaged in the attack.

The report quoted a navy spokesman as saying that the on-going fight between militants and armed forces that has lasted more than 14 hours since about 10:30 p.m. local time Sunday will be over soon.
