The second black box of Air France's Airbus A330, which crashed at sea off Brazil on June 1, 2009, has been found, French accident analysis and investigation agency said Tuesday.

The investigation team located and identified the Cockpit Voice Recorder at 2150 GMT on Monday, said the Bureau of Investigation and Analysis (BEA) in a statement.

The device was lifted on board the team's ship at 0240 GMT Tuesday, the statement added.

On Sunday, the BEA announced the recovery of the first black box of the crashed Air France Flight 447, which crashed into the Atlantic about 1,200 km off the coast of Brazil on its route to Rio de Janeiro from Paris. All the 228 people on board were killed.

French Secretary of State for Transport Thierry Mariani hailed the final recovery of the recorders as evidence justifying the human and financial resources spent in the past two years in the searching effort.

"The second success in this new field of research confirms that the means used were necessary to shed light on this tragedy despite the complexity of this investigation," he said in a separate statement.

Some 35 million euros (51.86 million U.S. dollars), shared among the French government, the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus and the French airline Air France, have been spent since June 2009 for the investigation and searching, according to local media.
