Han Changfu, special envoy of Chinese President Hu Jintao, left Freetown Friday evening after attending the 50th independent anniversary in Sierra Leone.

Before leaving the West African country, Han, who is also the minister of agriculture in China, accompanied Sierra Leonean President Ernest Bai Koroma to visit the general hospital financed and built by China in the suburbs of the capital city.

The president and the special envoy also participated in the hand-over ceremony of the office building of the Sierra Leonean Parliament, also financed by the Chinese government.

On Wednesday, Han and his delegation attended, together with other African heads of state and representatives, at the 50th independent anniversary celebration held at the National Stadium here.

During a meeting with the special envoy, Sierra Leonean President Koroma highly appreciated the relationship between Sierra Leone and China, saying Freetown would like to strengthen and expand the mutual benefit cooperation between the two countries.

Han and his delegation arrived here on Monday to join the African country's celebrations of its 50th anniversary of independence.
