At a meeting held in the Chadian capital N'Djamena on Tuesday, the finance ministers, central bank governors and presidents of regional institutions within the franc zone expressed their solidarity and support for the people of Cote d'Ivoire who went through a lot of suffering in the last few months.

They hailed the recent developments in Cote d'Ivoire which have led to the resolution of the political crisis.

Cote d'Ivoire's Finance Minister Charles Koffi Diby thanked his colleagues for their support after the country's Nov. 28 election.

The minister outlined the measures that the new government will take to urgently revive the economy. This, he said, will require rapid resumption of banking activities.

The finance ministers and heads of various regional institutions reaffirmed their willingness to help Cote d'Ivoire authorities in their reconciliation and reconstruction efforts.

French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde said France was planning to urgently release 400 million euros to fund urgent expenditures for the benefits of Cote d'Ivoire population.

The participants also vowed to push for greater involvement of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Cote d'Ivoire to address the country's serious economic, financial and humanitarian situation.

Finally, the ministers asked for the return of the offices of the African Development Bank (AfDB) to Cote d'Ivoire's economic capital Abidjan within the shortest possible time.
