2006年5月20日，芬兰重金属摇滚乐队洛尔迪在希腊首都雅典举行的2006雅典欧洲电视歌曲大赛上击败所有对手，捧走最高奖项，并为芬兰夺得了 2007年欧洲电视歌曲大赛的主办权。欧洲电视歌曲大赛是欧洲广播电视联盟组织、由主办方国家电视台承办的一项重大艺术类赛事。这项赛事已有51年的历史，并成为全世界收视率最高的文艺类电视节目之一。这个现场是在他们得奖后26号在芬兰本土开的一个现场,当时有8-9万名来自芬兰本地的歌迷到达现场,Lordi演唱了他们至今最为出名的几首歌曲。
经过40年的努力，芬兰终于在比赛中获胜。Lordi乐队以其反传统单曲《重金属哈利路亚》（Hard Rock Hallelujah），震撼并愉悦了观众，赢得了该赛事的历史最好成绩——292分，且高出亚军俄罗斯40分。
芬兰总统Tarja Halonen向粘着魔鬼面具的Lordi乐队发去贺电；芬兰文化部长Tanja Karpela说，Lordi的胜利表明芬兰的音乐在国外也是能够成功的。有官员表示，明年芬兰作为东道主将会上演最好的比赛。芬兰国家广播公司YLE运营总裁Mikael Jungner说道，这件事就好像芬兰中了头彩。
