Vanessa Williams[凡妮莎·威廉斯]1963年3月18日出生于美国纽约的达里镇。从小就深受百老汇音乐演出的熏陶。1981年Vanessa获得了Syracuse University（辛瑞卡斯大学)的奖学金而入学主修音乐剧专业，同时也开始了选美之路。在当选了大学小姐之后，顺利地成为纽约州小姐。
