How many times have you seen something that didn’t make sense or witness someone do or say something that you totally disagree with?

How many friends or family members do you have that do things completely differently to how you do them or have vastly different interests than you do?

When thinking about these questions how often do you chalk it up to people, circumstances or things just being weird?

I’m guilty of having done this. Quickly jumping to this conclusion that because I don’t get it, that it’s not how I would do things means they're
weird. I’m pretty sure I’m also the weird one to quite a few people out there. I mean who blogs, right? Who spends many years and a ton of money to get a higher degree and then decides to be a stay at home mom? Who likes corn on the cob but not corn from a tin or frozen? … Okay that last one might be a bit weird but I will defend this until the day I die – they do taste differente

Anyway, a lot of times we are quick to lump things together or dismiss them as weird when they make us uncomfortable, we don’t  understand them, we’re intimidated or insecure.

Everyone is different. Everyone will have different ways of doing things, they will have different values and will most certainly have different priorities. The next time you find yourself saying “hmmmm that’s weird” or dismissing someone because “oh they’re so weird” take a minute to think – not weird just different. What works or is normal for one may not be to someone else.

My weird and quirky ways is what makes – Sherri delightfully Sherri (as Gwynn puts it  ).
