Did Walter Mondale's daughter keep a 'tell all' diary about an affair with Bill Clinton?

Eleanor Mondale, the daughter of former vice president Walter Mondale who died of brain cancer last week, is rumoured to have kept a secret diary about her alleged affair with Bill Clinton.

The diary is said to describe every intimate detail of the relationship, according to the National Enquirer.

Now Hillary Clinton is reportedly terrified that its release could seriously derail her career.

A source tells the Enquirer: 'Just as Hillary has managed to put Bill in the background and make a mark as secretary of state, his shenanigans may soon surfrace again.'

Mrs Clinton has been bolstered by recent polls showing she's more popular with voters than President Obama.

Some analysts believe she may be considering challenging him for the White House.

The Enquirer source claimed: 'If she's forced to answer questions about her husband's wild sex life while she's campaigning, it will be a devastating distraction.

'Hillary is furious that Bill's sex addiction is once again getting in the way of her political ambitions.'

Miss Mondale, whose father served as Vice President during the administration of Jimmy Carter, was linked to the then President Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

It was reported that they used to go for early morning jogs together and that she and Barbra Streisand were among a very select few invited to Mr Clinton's hotel suite after a fundraising dinner in Santa Monica, California, in June 1986.

While Hillary Clinton and daughter Chelsea were visiting U.S. troops in Bosnia in March of that year, Miss Mondale and Mr Clinton jogged together in Washington.

Two years later it was reported that the tall, party-loving blonde sent Monica Lewinsky into a jealous rage by meeting Clinton in the Oval Office.

Miss Mondale enjoyed a career as glamorous entertainment reporter and radio show host.

She died in her sleep at her home in Minnesota on September 17 after a six-year battle with brain cancer.

Her husband and dogs were by her side when she passed away.

She wed widow Chan Poling, a 1970s punk rocker with The Suburbs, in 2005 after previous marriages to Chicago Bears offensive lineman Keith Van Horne and DJ Greg Thunder failed.
