少吃肉“降低氮污染”？
农场、交通工具、工业和废物处理所排放的氮污染，每年耗掉欧盟可能高达2800亿英镑的成本。
200名欧盟专家所做的研究还显示，活性氮（reactive nitrogen）造成空气污染，加速气候变化，减短人类六个月的平均寿命。
报道说，农牧业是造成氮污染的主要原因之一。
报告呼吁修改农业，控制汽车和工业，并呼吁人们减少吃肉，能大幅降低氮污染。
活性氮
氮是地球大气层中最常见元素，对人体无害，但由人类活动制造出的活性氮，则会引发一连串的相关问题。
这篇长达600页的报告，由21个国家89个组织的专家执笔，报告估计氮污染为欧盟造成的损失和成本每年达550至2800亿英镑。
农牧业产生的活性氮排放来自四面八方，对环境造成的破坏最大。
报告说，欧盟需要氮肥作为粮食肥料，但很多农场主施肥泛滥，污染水源。
以动物粪便作为肥料的溢出物污染水源，动物粪便堆肥排放一氧化氮污染空气。

Nitrogen pollution from farms, vehicles and industry is costing the EU up to £280bn a year - and could even reduce the lifespan of Europeans, according to a report.
Nitrogen is the most common element in the Earth's atmosphere and is usually harmless, but the reactive form contributes to air pollution and has a part in climate change.
Livestock farming is one of the biggest culprits, and the study by 200 European experts says the substance could shorten the life of the average EU resident by six months.
