电子内裤能够及时发送文字信息An Australian company announced the rollout of what it said werethe world's first electronic underpants, saying its product was able tosend text messages if the wearer became incontinent。
Designed for the elderly and infirm, the SIM system will be used inhomes for the aged across New South Wales state to monitor incontinenceafter successful trials in Victoria, the company Simavita said。
"Incontinence management is a key area in which innovativetechnologies can benefit aged care," said chief executive PhilippaLewis. "We developed SIM system to provide greater comfort and dignityto the elderly while aiming to significantly lower costs for aged carefacilities."
Its underpants have a disposable element similar to a regularincontinence pad and include a detachable transmitter that relaysreadings from the pad's sensor strip over a wireless network to acentral computer. Alerts are sent via text message or over theinstitution's paging system。
More than 90 per cent of Australians living in elderly carefacilities are believed to suffer from incontinence - a problem thatcurrently requires staff to carry out frequent manual checks throughoutthe day。
