How to connect to anywhere you want, … safely

First of all, you need a special web browser. As always, by downloading you get whatever you want on the internet.

Download link:

  • http://bit.ly/V1IYU (English en-US)
  • http://bit.ly/RE4Rj (Simplified Chinese zh-CN)

Important: you SHOULD use a XUNLEI downloader.
a) copy one of the above links.
b) open XUNLEI (also called thunder) downloader and press “new” botton.
c) press enter to close the pop-up dialog, and the downloading process will start.

Within several minutes, you’ll get a compressed self-extracting file (approximately 15.51M in size).

Double clicking the file icon and follow the instruction, you’ll have a folder extracted from the file to your local disk.

Open the folder, you’ll see an exe file with an onion icon, that’s it!

Click the file icon, it’ll open Vidalia control panel and do some magical connecting-to-somewhere stuff.

Just wait for a while.

Once the onion icon turns green, a firefox browser would appear, which can be used to surf anywhere you want freely and safely, alas, somewhat slowly.

But if the onion icon refused to turn green, don’t worry, it just needs a little more configuration:

  • Use your gmail account (you should have one) send a letter to bridges@torproject.org, with “get bridges” in the email content.
  • Within a minute, you’ll get a replay somewhat like this:

[This is an automated message; please do not reply.]
Here are your bridge relays:

bridge 92.41.50.141:443
bridge 83.226.198.100:9443
bridge 69.60.117.34:9001

  • At the vadilia control panel, click the “Settings” button.
  • In the “Settings” dialog, choose the “network” tab.
  • Check the box before “My ISP blocks connections to …”
  • Add those bridges you get from the email.
  • Click OK button of the dialog, and that’s it.

Wait for while, and the onion icon will eventually turn green, and latter your security assured Firefox browser.
