manypeople giving comments here don't really get the point, it is not thatthe chinese people will take a plenty amount of salt at one time toprotect against radiation, it is that the chinese people are afraid thatthe salt produced later is contaminated so they'd like to store thesalt for long time usage.
How come the people here think taking alarge amount of salt at one time against radiation? I think people whohave misunderstood and come up with this thought are truly stupid.

Wrong.Salt comes from underground mines - people are futilely stockpiling itbecause it contains iodine. The whole world could be nuked and saltwould still be safe to eat. I'd be more worried about where my food& water is coming from.

Guest,why are you confusing the Chinese with facts ? That's bad. You shouldstick to the program: Salt supply will be contaminated, consuming lotsof salt with iodine will protect people from radiation. These are key tohelp Chinese people to protect themselves. Facts like the salt theyconsume to get iodine will probably kill them first, and that salt canbe produced from salt lakes or from salt mines should not interfere withChinese ways of radiation protection.

Bothsalt and betadine are iodine supplements. The difference is: consumingeffective dose of betadine for iodine won't kill you. Consumingeffective dose of salt for iodine will. I bet the Chinese are smarter.China has a major overpopulation problem. But since Chinese areconsuming contaminated food year round, the added salt won't increasethe risk.

@ BABOYKABA：盐和碘酒都能补充碘。不同之处在于：使用有效剂量的碘酒来摄取碘，不会死人；食用有效剂量的盐来摄取碘，要死人。我敢说中国人要聪明多了。因为中国可是有严重的人口超载问题。不过既然中国人一年到头都在吃污染食品，多吃点盐也不会增加风险。
