爱上前来欢迎我。但我的灵魂缩退
蒙着歉疚的尘灰和罪。
可是，明眼的爱，从我一迈进门槛，
就看出我的迟疑不前。
爱更加就近我跟前，温柔亲切的
问我有什么缺欠。
我说：“一位贵宾要来这里。”
爱说：“那人正是你。”
“啊呀！我？这样的忘恩负义，一无良善？
我不敢看你的脸。”
爱拉着我的手，微笑着回应：
“除了我还有谁造人的眼睛？”
“主啊，不错。但我污损了双眼，理当抱羞
去到该去的那里。”
爱说道：“你可知道是谁背负了愆尤？”
“亲爱的，我愿意来服事。”
爱说道：“你一定要入席，来尝我的肉。”
这样，我就坐下来享受。

"Truth Lord, but I have marr'd them; let my shame
Go where it doth deserve."
"And know you not", says Love, "who bore the blame?"
"My dear, then I will serve."
"You must sit down", says Love, "and taste my meat."
So I did sit and eat.
