西班牙科学家声称，他们研制出了预防艾滋病的疫苗，未来艾滋病的治疗或许将和治疗普通疱疹一样简单。
试验中，研究者们发现24名测试者中92%的实验者在注射了MVA-B疫苗后都对HIV病毒产生抗体。项目主管埃斯特本教授表示：“如果将来HIV病毒再度出现在人体内，淋巴系统仍旧可以识别它。”
“我们的身体内充满了淋巴系统，每一处都能抵御不同的病原体。”埃斯特本说，“疫苗就是让淋巴系统识别HIV病毒并抵御它。”淋巴球有两个主要类型，B细胞和T细胞，其中B细胞产生抗体抵御病毒，T细胞侦察并摧毁受感染的细胞。埃斯特本教授表示，现在研究还处在早期阶段，不过该研究“非常有前途”。
科学家预计下一步会在已感染HIV病毒的人身上进行试验，看该疫苗是否有治疗作用。
不过科学家们对此感到十分乐观，称：“MVA-B疫苗已证实和其他处在研究阶段的疫苗一样有效，甚至更好。”
