八宝山祭奠网站(babaoshan.com.cn)的注册会员只需一点鼠标，就可以为所爱的人送上虚拟鲜花和歌曲。八宝山网站由北京殡葬管理处在2005年创建。
Users can also upload pictures or memorial essays about loved ones to share with family and friends。
用户还可以上传至爱亲人的照片或为其撰写的悼文，和亲友一同怀念。
在上面的报道中，memorial essay就是“悼文”，是悼念死者的文章，这种祭奠形式自古就有。而virtual flowers(虚拟鲜花)则是online tribute(网上悼念)兴起后才出现的新形式。为了环保，政府还鼓励人们实行online funeral(网上葬礼)。
在古代，到了Tomb-Sweeping Day(清明节)，人们要去先祖的坟上献上sacrificial offering(祭品)，烧些fake paper money(纸钱)。在送走逝者时，古人除了会写memorial essay，还会写elegiac couplet(挽联)，唱elegy(挽歌)。现代人则流行送wreath(花圈)。
