LIMA, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu and Peruvian Vice President Marisol Espinoza pledged here Friday to boost bilateral ties and cooperation.
Hui, who is currently on an official visit to the country, said the friendship between China and Peru had a long history and the bilateral relations between the two countries had been growing steadily since the two countries cemented diplomatic relations 40 years ago.
In recent years, the two countries had witnessed frequent high-level exchanges, increasingly enhanced mutual trust in politics and fruitful achievements in bilateral cooperation in various fields, Hui said.
The two countries also have maintained very good coordination and communications in international affairs, he said.
The Chinese vice premier said that, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, China was willing to work with Peru to push forward the sustainable development of the China-Peru strategic partnership on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit.
Espinoza, who currently serves as Peru's acting president, said Peru was satisfied with extensive and fruitful cooperation between the two countries in recent years.
She said Peru highly valued its ties with China and believed Hui's visit to Peru would set a new stage for the friendly cooperation between the two countries.
Espinoza reiterated that Peru firmly stuck to the one-China policy and expressed hope of deepening cooperation with China across a wider range.
