The drama of Wendi Deng's impassioned defence of her husband, Rupert Murdoch eclipsed anything that was said with regards to phone-hacking at yesterday's parliamentary hearing.
Now the 43-year-old, who was captured on live TV as she slapped down protester Jonnie Marbles, has been hailed a heroine figure on social networking sites in her native China.
The former News Corp executive and movie producer has been described as a 'guardian angel' and 'tiger wife' in the 24 hours since the event took place.

Footage of Mrs Murdoch clouting her husband's attacker has attracted nearly 430,000 hits on Youku, China's version of YouTube, and her name was trending worldwide on Twitter within minutes.
An online poll by Chinese news site Sina found that her actions had made 46.1 per cent of respondents believe in love again, while 30 per cent said her actions had changed their attitude towards her.
China's answer to Twitter, Weibo, was also abuzz with positive comments about the mother-of-two.

One user wrote: 'She's not only a tiger mother but also his guardian angel.'
Another added that she 'should be praised for protecting her husband' and that her actions would 'improve the image of Asian women in Western eyes'.
But not all of China's 485million web users reacted so favourably.
Some postings, albeit far fewer, branded her as a gold digger and family-wrecker.

Others even suggested she had staged the incident.
But it seems that these opinions are fewer than ever before, and Mrs Murdoch's 'slap' has transformed her public image.
Blogger Jixunli wrote: 'I never used to like Deng because I thought she was too materialistic, but I like her now.'
Indeed, it seems Mrs Murdoch's split-second reactions represented  qualities that viewers of the live feed could empathise with and respect.
Top body language expert Judi James called 'the slap' Mrs Murdoch's 'Pippa Middleton moment'.

She wrote: 'Her spontaneous and aggressive defence, launching herself out of her chair to slap her husband's attacker clearly shows she is someone who likes to get stuck in.
'Even when security guards intervened, Wendi was still on the attack, she was like a rottweiler.
'This is Wendi's Pippa Middleton moment - where she upstages the father and son double act. What's even more astonishing is that she managed to still look elegant as she attacked - a true Amazonian, powerful woman.'(Daily Mail)
