Chinese official urges quickening transformation of economic development pattern in Inner Mongolia
A senior Chinese official has called for efforts to accelerate the transformation of economic development pattern in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, according to an official statement Xinhua received Saturday.
Wang Gang, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, made the remarks during a recent study tour in Inner Mongolia.
Wang visited enterprises, farms, research institutes and farmers' homes in Ordos, Baotou, Hohhot, Manzhouli and Hulunbuir on July 4-9.
He urged efforts to speed up economic restructuring, balance the development of different regions and pay more attention to resources conservation and environmental protection.
In addition, greater efforts should be made to improve people's livelihood, safeguard social stability and promote ethnic solidarity, Wang said.
