The sixth C-5A, 67-0167 makes a pass over the Edwards Air Force Base Open House Display on May 19, 1970. Galaxies were originally painted white over gull gray (FS 16473) with a blue cheat line. The nose radome was black. Photographer Richard Lockett.

C-5A 69-001 on static display at the Vandenberg Air Force Base Airshow on November 14, 1984. In the middle of the eighties, the Galaxy fleet was repainted in European-1 camouflage. The upper surfaces were painted with gray (FS 36118) and two shades of green (FS 34102 and FS 34092). As the camouflaged Galaxies entered the fleet, green nose radomes found their way onto some of the "white top" Galaxies.
The third C-5A, 66-8305 on static display at the Edwards Air Force Base Open House Display on November 9, 1986. The upper surfaces of the wing of this white top Galaxy have acquired the gray/green European-1 camouflage. The entire fleet of C-5A Galaxies had their wing boxes replaced when it as discovered that the original design had a much shorter life than had been predicted. The new wing boxes were painted with the European-1 camouflage in anticipation of the repainting of the rest of the airplanes.
